The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Data Governance supports the development, execution, and oversight of the organization’s data governance strategy to ensure the quality, integrity, security, and compliance of data assets. This role partners with senior leadership to operationalize data governance frameworks, policies, and processes across departments. The AVP collaborates with business leaders, IT, compliance, legal, and data stewards to ensure data is managed effectively, supports business objectives, and meets regulatory and risk management requirements.
This is a full time, remote Associate Vice President of Data Governance role.
What You'll Do
•Support the execution of the enterprise data governance strategy in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
•Partner with senior leadership to translate strategic data governance objectives into actionable initiatives and programs.
•Maintain and enhance data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices for data quality, management, security, and compliance.
•Promote a culture of data governance and data stewardship across the organization through communication, training, and engagement.
•Serve as a key point of contact for data governance activities, providing guidance, tools, and oversight to ensure consistent practices.
•Implement and manage policies and procedures related to data quality, ownership, classification, access, and retention.
•Coordinate with data stewards to ensure data governance standards are applied effectively across data domains and business units.
•Oversee data quality initiatives, including metric development, monitoring, and issue resolution.
•Lead efforts to identify, analyze, and remediate data quality issues through cleansing, validation, and process improvement.
•Collaborate with IT, legal, and compliance teams to ensure data governance aligns with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
•Support the implementation and monitoring of data access controls and auditing mechanisms to safeguard sensitive data.
•Participate in evaluating and updating policies as data regulations and industry standards evolve.
•Partner with business and analytics teams to ensure data governance practices enable accurate and reliable reporting and decision-making.
•Drive continuous improvement in data governance processes by assessing tools, technologies, and methodologies.
•Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data governance and management.
•Manage and mentor data governance team members, fostering collaboration and professional development.
•Contribute to a data-driven culture by promoting accountability, transparency, and consistency in how data is used and managed across the enterprise.
What You'll Bring
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
•12+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields
•Proven experience in developing and executing data governance strategies across large, complex organizations.
•Experience with regulatory compliance and data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.
•Strong understanding of data management, data quality, metadata management, and data privacy principles.
•Knowledge of data management tools, platforms, and technologies (e.g., data catalogs, data quality tools, metadata management tools).
•Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
•Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
•Excellent analytical skills with a deep understanding of data governance and data management practices.
•Familiarity with data architecture, cloud platforms, and modern data analytics tools.
•Expertise in risk management and regulatory compliance related to data.
•Strategic thinker with the ability to influence organizational change.
•Detail-oriented with a focus on data integrity and compliance.
•Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex challenges.

Premise provides its reasonable and genuinely expected range of compensation for this job of $150,000.00 - $215,000.00 annually. A number of factors will influence the rate offered for this position, including your experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors. This position is eligible for an Annual Performance Incentive that is a percentage of base salary and awarded based upon individual annual evaluation and company financial performance.
For individuals living in Washington or Colorado: Premise offers the following paid time off benefits. Employees will be included in the company's Open Time Off plan and will receive 10 paid holidays or an equivalent bank of hours aligned to schedule throughout the calendar year. Paid sick leave is satisfied by the paid time off accrual, detailed above.
