The Director of Data Portfolio Management is responsible for leading the program and portfolio management function for the Data & Insights organization, ensuring departmental priorities are effectively translated into coordinated, executable work.

This role provides the structure, governance, tools, and operating rhythms necessary to align strategic objectives with team capacity and execution. The Director will oversee portfolio planning and prioritization, roadmap management, resource and dependency planning, and Agile delivery practices while providing leadership with clear visibility into progress, risks, capacity, and overall portfolio health.

The Director will partner across Business Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Data Science, and Product to improve how work is planned, prioritized, governed, and delivered across the Data & Insights organization.



This is a Full Time, hybrid, Data Portfolio Management Director role located in Brentwood, TN.


What You'll Do

Portfolio & Program Management:

  • Own the Data & Insights portfolio and program management function, ensuring initiatives align with departmental priorities, strategic objectives, and available capacity. 
  • Maintain an integrated view of strategic initiatives, product roadmaps, dependencies, milestones, and delivery commitments across the organization. 
  • Establish and continuously improve standards for portfolio governance, work intake, prioritization, planning, and execution. 
  • Proactively identify portfolio-level risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and competing priorities and facilitate resolution with department leadership. 
  • Ensure teams maintain clear accountability for commitments, milestones, and strategic deliverables. 


Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Lead quarterly and annual planning processes across Data & Insights, translating departmental goals and strategies into prioritized, executable roadmaps. 
  • Partner with department leadership to align resources and capacity to the organization's highest-priority initiatives. 
  • Establish mechanisms for tracking progress against departmental goals, strategic initiatives, and roadmap commitments. 
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution to maintain alignment from strategy and planning through delivery. 
  • Support leadership in evaluating tradeoffs and reprioritizing work as business needs evolve. 



Portfolio Visibility & Governance:

  • Provide department leadership with clear and consistent visibility into strategic initiatives, roadmap progress, delivery status, capacity, dependencies, risks, and portfolio health. 
  • Establish portfolio-level reporting and performance measures that enable informed prioritization and resource decisions. 
  • Facilitate portfolio health reviews, roadmap reviews, strategic execution meetings, and leadership updates. 
  • Develop governance processes that create transparency and accountability without introducing unnecessary administrative burden. 



Agile & Delivery Management:

  • Maintain ownership of Agile delivery practices and standards across the Data & Insights organization. 
  • Lead and develop Scrum Masters responsible for supporting individual delivery teams. 
  • Ensure Agile methodologies support broader portfolio objectives, roadmap commitments, and departmental priorities. 
  • Continuously evaluate and improve delivery processes to increase predictability, efficiency, and accountability. 
  • Connect team-level Agile execution with broader program and portfolio management processes. 


Program Management Tools & Processes:

  • Own the strategy, governance, and effective use of departmental program and portfolio management platforms, including Airfocus and Jira. 
  • Establish standardized processes for intake, prioritization, roadmap management, backlog management, dependency tracking, and delivery reporting. 
  • Ensure portfolio and delivery tools provide a consistent and reliable view of organizational priorities and execution. 
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline program management processes. 



Cross Functional Partnership:

  • Partner with Business Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Data Science, and Product leaders to translate strategies into executable work plans and delivery roadmaps. 
  • Serve as a central coordination point for initiatives requiring execution across multiple Data & Insights teams. 
  • Facilitate resolution of cross-functional dependencies, competing priorities, and resource constraints. 
  • Build strong relationships across the department to create alignment between strategy, product planning, technical delivery, and business outcomes. 


Organizational Leadership:

  • Lead, coach, and develop Scrum Masters and other program management resources. 
  • Establish a consistent operating rhythm across the Data & Insights organization, including quarterly planning, roadmap reviews, portfolio health reviews, and strategic execution meetings. 
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Support leadership in continuously improving the department's overall operating model and execution maturity. 



What You'll Bring


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Information Systems, Technology, Analytics, or related field required. 
  • Master's degree preferred. 
  • Agile, Scrum, PMP, SAFe, or related program/project management certification preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in program management, portfolio management, Agile delivery, product operations, project management, or related disciplines. 
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Demonstrated experience with portfolio planning, prioritization, roadmap management, and capacity planning. 
  • Experience leading Agile delivery teams and/or Scrum Masters. 
  • Experience implementing or managing enterprise work management platforms such as Jira, Airfocus, or similar tools. 
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to translate strategic priorities into executable plans. 
  • Strong understanding of portfolio and program management methodologies, Agile practices, and product development lifecycles. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex portfolios involving multiple teams, priorities, and dependencies. 
  • Strong strategic planning, prioritization, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to translate strategy into clear roadmaps, milestones, and execution plans. 
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and create alignment in a highly matrixed environment. 
  • Strong understanding of capacity planning, dependency management, risk management, and portfolio performance measurement. 
  • Ability to balance structured governance with the flexibility required in a rapidly evolving Data & Insights organization.
